Acteur
Un acteur est un artiste qui incarne un personnage dans un film, dans une pièce de théâtre, à la télévision, à la radio, ou même dans des spectacles de rue. En plus de l'interprétation proprement dite, un acteur peut aussi danser ou chanter, selon les besoins de son rôle.

Historique
Le premier acteur serait le grec Thespus (ou Thespis) qui aurait joué en -534 au théâtre d'Athènes pour les fêtes de Dionysos et serait ainsi devenu le premier à interpréter des paroles, séparément du choeur, dans une pièce de théâtre. Avant lui, les histoires étaient racontées avec des danses ou des chansons, à la troisième personne, mais aucune histoire n'était racontée à la première personne.
Cet acteur était unique à l'origine et, seul protagoniste, il parlait avec le choeur. Le dramaturge grec Eschyle est le premier a avoir introduit un deuxième personnage, puis Sophocle en fit intervenir un troisième.
En France, les métiers du théâtre étaient réservés aux hommes, ce n'est qu'en 1603, à l'occasion d'une tournée théâtrale d'une troupe italienne qu'une femme, Isabella Andreini, eut le droit de monter sur scène.
Définition
L'acteur est celui qui met en acte, en action, le texte écrit par le dramaturge, et les situations organisées par le metteur en scène. C'est lui qui agit et donne la vie au personnage. Dans certains cas il peut être même l'unique créateur de son rôle, par exemple dans les spectacles d'improvisation comme la commedia dell'arte.
Aujourd'hui, par l'influence de l'anglais, l'usage tend à réserver parfois le terme « acteur » aux interprètes de cinéma et le terme « comédien » aux interprètes de théâtre. Littéralement, le comédien est un acteur plus particulièrement spécialisé dans la comédie (κωμωδία), de même que le tragédien est davantage spécialisé dans la tragédie (τραγωδία). Toutefois, le terme de « comédien » recouvre surtout une notion d'état, de métier, tandis que celui d'« acteur » recouvre une notion de rôle, de fonction.
L'acteur et son personnage
Il existe un ambigüité constante entre la personnalité du rôle et celle de son interprète. Paradoxe exposé notamment par Diderot. On raconte qu'un acteur romain du nom d'Ésope, emporté par la folie du personnage d'Oreste assassina un de ses partenaires, de même l'acteur Genest se serait converti, emporté par la foi de son personnage, et fut même sanctifié (pour avoir subi le martyr, et non pour sa passion du théâtre...). L'acteur change d'identité afin de pouvoir incarner tel ou tel autre personnage, cependant les cas de confusion mentale sont rarissimes et l'acteur doit rester lui-même pour créer artistiquement un caractère. L'identification à son personnage n'est jamais totale, sous peine de folie. L'acteur puise à la fois dans son vécu et son imaginaire pour créer un rôle. L'église, pendant des siècles, a vu d'un fort mauvais œil cette capacité de dissimuler ou transformer la nature profonde de son être, les acteurs étaient excommuniés à partir de l'an 398. Molière fut enterré à la sauvette, il faut attendre le XXe siècle pour qu'une actrice, comme Sarah Bernhardt par exemple, puisse avoir des obsèques nationales.
Le jeu de l'acteur
Le jeu de l'acteur intervient souvent en complément d'un autre art. S'il est partie intégrante des arts traditionnels (architecture, sculpture, peinture, gravure, musique), il peut aussi exister seul (une lecture de texte, un spectacle d'improvisation, par exemple) ou bien s'ajouter aux autres arts, notamment ceux où l'interprétation est séparée de la création : théâtre, télévision, cinéma…
Certains appellent le jeu de l'acteur le huitième art, place que d'autres attribuent à la télévision. Le huitième art serait donc l'art de la prestation.
Ainsi, lors des compétitions cinématographiques, les prix d'interprétation récompensent le huitième art alors que les autres récompensent le septième.

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing (DTP) application produced by Adobe Systems. Launched as a direct competitor to QuarkXPress, it initially had difficulty in wooing users away from Quark's offering, but in 2002 it outsold QuarkXPress, largely because Quark was slow to release a native version of XPress for Mac OS X. In addition, Adobe can bundle InDesign with its other design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop—tools that XPress buyers probably need as well—and undercut Quark's price. However, InDesign remains a distant second to XPress in the high-end DTP market, despite the fact that InDesign is more powerful than XPress in most scenarios.
InDesign can export documents in Adobe's Portable Document Format and offers multilingual support that Quark users can get only by purchasing a much more expensive "Passport" version. InDesign is the first major DTP application to support Unicode for text processing and the advanced typography of OpenType fonts. Its advanced transparency features and cross-platform scriptability using Javascript also set it apart. Finally, it features tight integration and user interface similarities with Illustrator and Photoshop programs.
InDesign was positioned as a higher-end alternative and successor to Adobe's own PageMaker. InDesign is primarily used to design short documents (that is, not books) or articles in periodical publications, posters, and other print media. Longer documents are usually still designed with FrameMaker (manuals and technical documents) or QuarkXPress (books). The combination of a relational database, InDesign and Adobe InCopy word processor, which uses the same formatting engine as InDesign, is the heart of several publishing systems designed for newspapers, magazines, and other publishing environments; InDesign and InCopy can work together in small publishing workgroup environments without needing a dedicated system or relational database. Designers can work on the InDesign document at the same time that editors using InCopy change the text linked to the document that the designer is working on. The editor can see the same line endings and other typographic details, and as the designer changes the look of the document, the editor can update the "geometry" to see the consequence of the designer's work on the length of the story. Meanwhile, the designer can periodically update the text to reflect the most recent editorial changes.
New versions of the software introduced new file formats. Adobe had upset its user base by not allowing InDesign CS to downsave to older versions of InDesign. However, with the new release of InDesign CS2, saving in the InDesign CS file format is allowed through the InDesign Interchange (.inx) format. Versions of InDesign CS updated with the 3.01 April 2005 update (available free from Adobe's Web site) can read files saved from InDesign CS2 exported to this format.
